Postpone national games, say Pakistan’s security agencies

Islamabad, March 13 (IANS) Shaken by a rash of suicide bombings across Pakistan, the country's security agencies have asked the federal and provincial governments to postpone the March 25-31 National Games at Peshawar. Adequate security cannot be ensured for the games, the agencies have said.

In a report to the federal and provincial governments, the security agencies said that terrorist activates have increased in different areas of the country in the last couple of days and terrorists could hit Islamabad and Peshawar after Karachi and Lahore, Online news agency reported, quoting sources.

Islamabad, March 13 (IANS) A suicide bomber targeted a security checkpost in a crowded area in Pakistan's Mingora town in the restive Swat Valley Saturday, killing at least 14 people and wounding 52, a day after twin blasts claimed 57 lives in Lahore.

Three security personnel were among those killed in the blast in Mingora, Swat's largest city.

Pakistan Air Force to conduct massive exercise

Islamabad, March 13 (IANS) Pakistan Air Force (PAF) will conduct its biggest exercise in the third week of this month. It will cover the entire country from Skardu in the north to Arabian Sea in the south and will last 45 days.

Quoting sources, Dawn reported that Exercise High Mark-2010 will "be different from all previous exercises because it would also feature operations involving army and navy personnel".

Islamabad, March 13 (IANS) Five successive low-intensity blasts hit Pakistan's eastern city Lahore Friday, less than 12 hours after massive twin blasts killed at least 48 people and injured 95 in the town.

The five back-to-back blasts took place in the span of 45 minutes within the distance of few hundred metres at the Moon Market in Iqbal Town area.
